Sharon graduates this year and wants to do anything for a job. She doesn’t know what she wants to do, but she says she wants to work for an investment bank. Why? I asked. Because she wants the high salary and to work for a top firm, and that was basically it.
Ho hum.
I can see the potential for her future unhappiness as I know that money doesn’t make you happy. It sure helps, but if you’re not in a fulfilling job then you won’t be happy for five days a week. That’s a lot of time to be unhappy.
I really wish clients would think through their likes and dislikes, and get to know themselves, before trying to choose a career. I’m sure some of them spend more time choosing a mobile phone than on what to do for the rest of their lives.
